FAQ 74
What can I do to avoid difficulties with my paying for my studies?

If a Home/EU student wants to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England, they should make sure that the application is made before the deadline, details of which can be found at www.gov.uk/student-finance.
If a student applies later, it is not guaranteed that their fees will be sorted before the start of the academic year, which will cause problem after registration. All students have to keep in mind that even if they apply for a Tuition Fee Loan or they are sponsored by a company/government/body, they are still liable for their own tuition fee payment, so they have to make sure everything is sorted on time, otherwise they will have to cover the payment themselves.
It is really important that all students read the tuition fee Policy on or before registration. The document is available at: www.beds.ac.uk/howtoapply/money/fees/policy. No student should leave the registration room without seeing the Finance Department and making an agreement about their tuition fee payment. When a student signs an agreement, they have to make sure that they read what they are signing for. In a case where a payment agreement has been signed but the student did not have a UK bank account at the time, it remains the student’s responsibility to provide his/her bank details to the Finance Department, as soon as they receive it.
As soon as a student realises that s/he has problem with a payment, they should seek advice from the Student Finance Officer in their faculty. The student finance officers are:
