FAQ 41
Why can't I access the buildings?

If you cannot use your card at entry points, and the reasons are not obvious to you, it is likely that you are not in good financial standing with the University. This can lead to your account being sanctioned. If this happens then your card will be set to exclude you from entry wherever swiping is usually required.

It is also possible that your ID card is not set to access every University Building, depending on where you are based.

If you do owe money to the university, please visit Credit Control on Level 2 of the Campus Centre (G Block). You can join their queue by typing in your student number and selecting it from the list. If you are in Bedford, please visit the Finance department in P Block. You can also contact finance@beds.ac.uk or telephone 01582 743331.

Additionally, if your card has expired due to an inaccurate end date, this would also stop your card working at doors and swipe card entry points. If this is the case please contact your course administrator.

If you are not sure what the problem is and you do not think that you owe money, please log an enquiry on SiD Online or visit the SiD desk and we will try to determine the problem.
