What is the Postgraduate and CPD Centre project?

The project built a new 4000m2 building over 5 storeys on the old Students' Union site on Vicarage Street which opened in early 2013.
The building is the home for the university's postgraduate students and a centre for continuing professional development (CPD) students from industry. The building includes:

  • State of the art IT and AV equipment
  • Lecture theatres
  • Formal learning spaces
  • Informal learning spaces
  • Quiet study areas
  • Cafe;
  • Student lounge
  • Hot desk spaces for lecturers/support staff

The project's cost was 19.6 million and this includes the construction of the building, two high level bridge links to the Business School, recladding the existing Business School and providing traffic calming measures on Vicarage Street.
