FAQ 34
I would like to change my course/unit. How should i do this?

If you are a home student and you have not started your course yet but wish to change it, you should contact Admissions on admission@beds.ac.uk

If you are an EU or international student in the same situation, you can find International Admissions' contact details at www.beds.ac.uk/international/contacts-and-enquiries-international

Unit change:

If you are registered for your course and wish to change an optional unit you will need to complete a Unit Change Form which is attached to this FAQ. This needs to be authorised by the Unit Leader of the unit you want to change to.

Course change:

If you wish to transfer course, and already know which course you wish to transfer to, please follow the steps below:

  1. Read the Course Transfer policy here: https://www.beds.ac.uk/media/2yoeg3yb/course-transfer-policy-2024-25-1.docx
  2. Read the FAQ's here: https://www.beds.ac.uk/student-support/change-of-circumstances/course-transfer/course-transfer-faqs/
  3. Email (from your student email)

  • Your current course leader to let them know you wish to transfer
  • Your new course leader to get approval to transfer to the new course
  • The Student Money Advice to confirm if transferring will affect your funding - you can email them at studentmoney@beds.ac.uk

[International Student Only]

Details for your current course leader can be found on e:Vision.

All staff email addresses are in the following format: firstname.surname@beds.ac.uk

If you require an email address of a course leader please contact SiD outlining clearly which email address you require and for which course.

More information about this process can be found here: https://www.beds.ac.uk/student-support/change-of-circumstances/course-transfer

Please note:

  • You are only able to transfer once.
  • If you wish to transfer onto a professional course (such as Nursing, Teaching or Social Work) you must apply through UCAS as you cannot transfer internally within the University.
  • Transfer from a Partner to UoB or vice versa is not permissible. Students will have to make a new application to admissions should they wish to do so.
  • Transfer from one Partner to another Partner is also not permissible. Again students will have to make an application to admissions should they wish to do so.
  • Transfer between Partner’s own campuses e.g. LSC London to LSC Birmingham or Birmingham to London is permissible. This can be done using as course transfer for a change in location.
