FAQ 200
How many hours can I work as a student?

The University recommends that students work no more than 20 hours per week during term time. Please note that this includes unpaid work experience. International students working more than 20 hours in any week during term-time are in breach of their immigration conditions (excluding work placements for their course, or an internship). Further details are available from the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA).

During holiday periods, students are entitled to work full-time. International students can find more information regarding this from UKCISA. The Student Information Desk can provide letters for international students to take to employers during holiday periods but ONLY once the faculty has confirmed that the student is indeed on holiday. You will need to sign a permission form available from the desk.

If you would like to speak with an adviser about finding work in the UK, you can book an appointment via our online portal Careersonline. To do this, login using your student username and password, then select Book/Appointments from the toolbar to see what slots are available.  If you have any questions, please, email us via careers@beds.ac.uk
