Where do I go for support if I am a care experienced student/estranged from my family?

Student Engagement Team:

Please make an appointment with a Student Engagement Advisor who can talk through the support available to you, this can be through telephone, a team’s video call or face to face meeting at either our Luton or Bedford campuses.

Book an appointment in one of the following ways:

  • Email studentengagement@beds.ac.uk and an advisor will get back to you
  • Visit one of the Student Information Desks and an advisor will book an appointment
  • Call 0300 300 0042 and an advisor will book an appointment

Support provided is dependent on the needs of the individual student from the point of entry to graduation and offer guidance , support and signposting to other internal or external support teams based on your circumstances.

The student engagement team work along the mitigation team can provide advice and guidance to students regarding the of the process of applying for extensions and re-assessments and reviewing applications made by students, subject to meeting the mitigation criteria.

Student Money Team:

The student money team provide advice and guidance to students including providing events including budgeting workshops, university laptop loan scheme, student finance funding advice and any other money advice support queries.

Student Money team are also the point of contact for care leaver bursary queries and applications.
